Working for Stoney Middleton

From Richard O'Neill - passing through the village

(by Webmaster <info@stoneymiddletonparishcouncil.org.uk> on 4th November 2006)

Hi,

I was working in Derbyshire yesterday and saw the signs on my way through the village and also the reports on radio news.

I just wanted to let you know that I think that all schools like yours should be kept open.

Why? I moved around a lot as a child and went to 14 primary schools, always being the new boy wasn't any fun and I certainly have made sure that my two girls have stayed at the same school. Continuation of education for children is so important, being in a place where they feel secure and a part of something, as someone who works with children who do have a disrupted education I cannot over emphasise how important it is that they are not moved simply due to financial costs. Every child matters don't they?

I wish you every success with your campaign.

If there is anything I can do regarding fund-raising, i.e. the use of one of my stories to be illustrated by your children and sold, then don't hesitate to let me know.

All the best

Richard O'Neill
