school(by daphne finlayson <barbarafinlayson@btinternet.com> on 5th November 2006)Who would have thought at the beginning of September that what started out with high hopes for another year at our wonderful village school, where the only concern was that swimming lessons weren't going to be available for years 2,3 and 4 could turn into something as bad as having to fight for the survival of the school itself!!!!!It's unbelievable! How dare people who have encouraged the freedom of choice for parents to send children to any school they like now attempt to stop our children from having the same choices! If we wanted our children to go to Curbar school or Eyam school don't the councillors think that we would have sent them there at the beginning of their school lives? My girls are doing really well at Stoney School they are learning new things everyday and why should we upset their routine by sending them to a school they don't know where everything will be unfamiliar, were they may be split up from their friends and have whole new scenarios to put up with that if they were left where they are then they wouldn't have to go through. Children like routine and security and these will be disrupted if Stoney school is closed. I don't want my children to go to a different school, I don't think it is fair to be forced into a situation that is being forced upon us. I wish this wasn't happening to our school but I am pleased to be part of the fight. Please please please don't close our village school we don't have much in our village but what we do have we are proud of and one thing above all that we are proud of is the fact that Stoney school produces first class children!!!!!!!!!
