Letter to Stoney Middleton Parish Council from Councillor Andrew I Lewer - Derbyshire County Council - Ashbourne Division - Derbyshire Dales District Council - Ashbourne South Ward(by Webmaster <info@stoneymiddletonparishcouncil.org.uk> on 29th November 2006)Dear Miss Lloyd, Thank you for your letter about Stoney Middleton School. I have had well over a hundred letters and e-mails on this subject and have not, inevitably, been able to reply to them all. However, as you write from the Parish Council, I thought it presented an ideal opportunity to reply in a collective sense. The huge level of support that the school has is a testament to the community spirit of Stoney Middleton, a village spirit I admire and know well, being the County Councillor for the Ashbourne Division, which has 28 parishes in it and number of small primary schools. In a way I wish I did get a vote as to whether the school closes or not, but alas with the Cabinet system, as operated by the County Council, the opportunities for me, as a 'backbencher' not representing the Division in which Stoney Middleton lies, to act in a direct way are limited. What I would say is that my colleague, Cllr Cate Hunt, with whom I serve on the Derbyshire Dales District Council, is a person for whom I have the greatest respect and who I would support without hesitation. I am sure her wisdom and help will be most useful to you. Yours sincerely, Councillor Andrew I Lewer Derbyshire County Council - Ashbourne Division Derbyshire Dales District Council - Ashbourne South Ward Write a new messageStart a new thread in this forum.
