LEVEL - Rowsley

Tucked away in the picturesque village of Rowsley, LEVEL is an award-winning contemporary arts centre that opened in 2008. They have a year-round programme of visual art and digital exhibitions that are open to the public, alongside artists residencies and creative workshops. But it’s not just about the building. LEVEL is a charity that celebrates the art that ‘difference’ makes, producing and promoting high quality contemporary art that is powerful and relevant. Much of the work has been produced by or with disabled artists.

The venue is free to visit and is open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. There are selected weekend openings throughout the year. More details on LEVEL can be found here: https://levelcentre.com/

The venue is also available to hire for meetings and away days.

Peak Village have recently announced that LEVEL is their Charity of the Year for 2023. Now owned by the Devonshire Group, the company that represents the interests of the Devonshire family at nearby Chatsworth, Peak Village actively welcomes independent businesses with a strong local connection.

Their support has started with a month-long exhibition of work by Level artists in one of their retail units at Peak Village. ‘The Art That Difference Makes’ is a diverse collection of five visual art exhibitions, including Making Faces, After I Died, Sick Gaze and Level In Layers. The exhibition is open to the public at Peak Village 11-4pm every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday until 18 June.

As well as supporting LEVEL by collaborating on exhibitions and activities, Peak Village will be sponsoring LEVEL’s public visual art exhibition over the summer.
